Anna, our office manager, or a receptionist will greet you before you fill out a form. The questionnaire will let us get a start in understanding your medical history, your nutrition and your medications. All these things help the doctor get a view of your health and make a prognosis. Dr. Bowers will sit down with you and listen to your description of the injury or whatever has brought you to us. It is important to explore the mechanism of injury and the progression of the disease, any home care you have tried and the nature/location of the pain. You might think this takes too long and we should get to some treatment faster, however there are many types of injuries that are similar. The old physicians taught us that a good history hands you the diagnosis. Without accuracy here we have misdirected ambition. Most patients feel very well understood by the time we finish their history.
We next proceed to the examination portion, which is where Dr. Bowers will inspect the injury or area of concern and test the related structures to come to a thorough understanding. Before we move on to treatment, it is important that you understand the problem , so here is where it is explained: the Report of Findings. The path back to health is outlined here along with a prognosis (how long it may take and how good it can get).
Finally the treatment begins. Dr. Bowers has an array of therapies that may be applied. Whatever is appropriate for your repair will be considered for your personal treatment regimen. Many times your care consists of chiropractic adjustments with stretching or exercises. Please be assured that if your condition is not one that is for Chiropractic care, you will be directed to other care more appropriate for you.
